Tibiofemoral Distraction (Prone)

Purpose: To increase mobility in the knee and decrease pain.

Procedure:  With patient in prone, stabilize the patient’s distal thigh with your hand or a mobilization belt.  Rotate the patient’s tibia until the open-packed position is found. Once the open-packed position is found, the therapist grips the patient’s distal tibia above the malleoli and provides a distraction force to the knee.
