Pectoralis Minor Soft Tissue Release
Purpose: To facilitate soft tissue release of the pectoralis minor
Procedure: With the patient lying in supine, sit on the side of the plinth of the muscles that you are trying to release. Preposition the patient’s scapula into protraction with a pillow to approximate origin and insertion of the pectoralis minor. Have the patient place their ipsilateral hand on their abdomen. Using soft tissue massage cream, reach under the patient’s arm and sweep your hand underneath the pectoralis minor against the ribs using the radial surface of the index finger. Work along the full length of pectoralis minor, facilitating tissue release from the ribs to the coracoid process.
